How we test
This page describes the general approach Juniper Family Guide aims to take when we compare family products. It is a statement of policy, not a record of any single test.
What we try to do
- Use products in normal family life rather than only reading the box.
- Judge each product against a small, consistent set of criteria chosen for the category. For markers, that means washability, cap fit, odour, and colour coverage.
- Rank products on how they perform overall for a typical family, and say who a product is best suited to.
- Keep our rankings independent of any commercial relationship. See our affiliate disclosure.
Please note: this is our general testing policy. The detailed, article-specific test log for the washable markers round-up — including test dates, the scoring sheet, sample photos, and raw observations — is not currently published or available. A general policy on this page should not be read as evidence that a specific test was carried out in a particular way.
Limits
Our team's strength is family-content editing. We use household testing and contributor input rather than laboratory measurement, and we do not claim independent lab certification for our results.
