A useful HR dashboard is not a wall of measures. It gives one audience a reliable view of a decision, shows the comparison period, and keeps definitions close enough to inspect.
1. Workforce health dashboard
Decision: Where does leadership need to investigate workforce pressure this month?
- Headcount and full-time-equivalent movement
- Voluntary and involuntary exits
- Absence days and overtime hours
- Open roles and contractor reliance
- Movement by function, location, and manager
2. Retention risk dashboard
Decision: Which teams or cohorts need a closer retention review?
- Trailing twelve-month voluntary attrition
- First-year exits
- Critical-role exits
- Manager changes
- Pay-position or workload signal when available
Do not label an individual as likely to leave from a team-level dashboard. Use the view to choose where a qualified person should inspect the evidence.
3. Employee listening dashboard
Decision: Which employee-experience issue should receive the next action?
- Response rate and group-size threshold
- Question-level favourable response
- Change from the comparable prior survey
- Largest gaps by team or employee group
- Published action and owner
4. Hiring capacity dashboard
Decision: Where is recruiting capacity failing to meet an approved workforce plan?
- Approved and open roles
- Days open by job family
- Qualified candidates per stage
- Offer acceptance
- Recruiter load and hiring-manager response time
Definitions every dashboard should show
- Period
- The date window and comparison period used by every measure.
- Population
- Employees, workers, applicants, or roles included and excluded.
- Owner
- The team responsible for the data and the decision it supports.
- Refresh
- When the data was updated and when it is expected to change again.
- Limit
- A missing source, small group, delayed system, or definition change that affects interpretation.
A simple layout
- Put the decision and date scope first.
- Show three to five headline measures.
- Use one trend view and one segment view.
- Keep definitions and data limits on the same page.
- End with the owner and next review date.
